A group to help empower Black women.

Service Description

This space is for the upliftment and empowerment of Black Women, which means that no conversation is off the table! We will discuss and explore various topics impacting Black women. The group's purpose is to create a collaborative and supportive space for Black women from different walks of life. Group members are encouraged to participate, process, and share. Group discussions may include microaggressions, self-esteem, mindfulness practices, racism, sexism, and intersectionality, familial responsibilities, activism, advocacy, and so much more. What will you get out of this program? 1) A supportive space for racial healing. 2) Empowerment and inclusivity. 3) Encouragement, understanding, learning, strength, growth. 4) Resources for mindfulness and coping strategies. 5) Stronger sense of community 6) Commitment to personal growth 7) Honesty and truthfulness About the Facilitator: Zomorah Zomorah (She/Her/Hers) identifies as a first-generation Afro-Caribbean American. She has completed her master's in education in Therapeutic Interventions and is currently a doctoral candidate at Fordham University's School Psychology Ph.D. Program. Zomorahs interests and passion lie in empowering Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) individuals through mental health awareness. Despite the under-representation of BIPOC counselors in psychology, Zomorah is hopeful that as more faces like hers are present in the clinical space, there will be more access and equity in the area.
